1. Who we are

SmartDocket ("we", "us", "our") is a grocery price comparison service operating in Ireland. We provide a mobile application and related services that help consumers compare supermarket prices and track their spending.

2. What data we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and an optional profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Receipt data

When you scan a receipt, we temporarily process the image to extract store name, date, product names, prices, and discounts. The extracted data is stored in your account. Receipt images are stored securely and can be deleted by you at any time.

Location (optional)

If you grant permission, we detect your general area (e.g., "Dublin 6") to show relevant local prices. We do not track your real-time location or store GPS coordinates.

Usage data

We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app, such as which features are used most and crash reports. This data cannot identify you personally.

Push notification token

If you enable notifications, we store your device's push notification token to send you price drop alerts and savings updates.

3. How we use your data

• Compare prices across Irish supermarkets (Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, SuperValu, Dunnes)
• Track your spending and show savings opportunities
• Send you personalised price drop alerts (if enabled)
• Generate your monthly savings report
• Improve our price database (your receipt prices help all users find the best deals)
• Respond to support requests

4. Price contribution

When you scan a receipt, the product prices are added anonymously to our collective price database. This helps all SmartDocket users find the best prices. No personal information is attached to contributed prices — only the product name, price, store, and date.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Supabase — our database and authentication provider (EU servers)
• Google / OpenAI — to process receipt images via OCR (images are not stored by these providers)
• Apple — to process iOS subscription payments via In-App Purchase
• RevenueCat — to manage subscription status across platforms
• Stripe — to process web subscription payments (we never see your full card number)
• Resend — to send transactional emails (monthly reports)
• Expo — to deliver push notifications
• Sentry — for crash reporting (anonymised)

6. Data retention

• Account data: Kept until you delete your account
• Receipt data: Kept until you delete individual receipts or your account
• Price history: Retained anonymously (not linked to you after account deletion)
• Usage analytics: Retained for 12 months in anonymised form

7. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your data
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — delete your account and all associated data (available directly in the app under Profile → Delete Account, or by emailing us)
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Object — opt out of marketing communications
• Restriction — limit how we process your data

8. Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. Your data is stored on servers within the European Union.

9. Children's privacy

SmartDocket is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

10. Cookies

The SmartDocket mobile app does not use cookies. Our website (smartdocket.ie) uses only essential cookies for functionality and anonymous analytics via Vercel Analytics.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
